It made me realise how much fun the outdoors can be
Confidence and self esteem has gone through the roof as a result of this experience

The night walk was the best because we went to see how the sky looks in the dark. The stars looked beautiful
It was a real challenge and I really pushed myself
It gave me a chance to stretch my will
It was hard work but I was proud of myself
Group activities (team building) were the best
It made me realise the importance of protecting the environment
Students are more willing to talk to each and share ideas/thoughts outside of their friendship groups
The course was so FANTASTIC that we are now making it sustainable within our local community
A National Citizen Service programme
Young people in Bradford, Hull, NE Lincs, Manchester, Salford and Tower Hamlets took part in Eco Challenge Xtra during the summer. Eco Challenge Xtra is one of 12 National Citizen Service (NCS) pilot programmes in 2011.
The young people enjoyed two weeks of residentials followed by environmental social action projects in the local area. National Citizen Service, NCS, is a Big Society initiative, supporting young people from all backgrounds to work together, take on new challenges and make a difference.

Field Studies Council (FSC), a leading environmental education charity, worked in partnership with Action for Blind People (Action) and local partners Volunteering Bradford, Hull CVS, Futureversity and MYVP to deliver this exciting programme.
